The James Dyson Award is a world-renowned international design engineering competition for young innovators. The award was launched by The James Dyson Foundation, an international charity of Sir James Dyson, the founder and chief engineer of the UK appliance giant, in 2005. The billionaire inventor handpicks the award winners every year. 
This is the first time that a Korean team has won the top prize.

The Golden Capsule Team won the Prime Minister's Award for engineering design containing creative solutions at the 12th "2023 National College of Engineering Competition, organized by the government. All engineering students in Korea participate in this contest to prove their engineering design skills. Winning this engineering award as a convergence major team of designers and engineers is very unusual.

Prototypes For Humanity is the most diverse assembly of innovations that has the power to change the world. This award was held at Emirates Towers and COP28 Impact Hub DP Pavilion in Dubai. This programmes and activities raise awareness of global problems, celebrate solutions, and catalyze action for positive social and environmental impact, today and in the future. P4H is held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) and member of the Dubai Council, and she gives the award to the winners herself.
The winner was selected from more than 3,000 submissions from 710 universities in 108 countries - including Yale, Stanford, Oxford, Princeton, Berkeley, MIT, Harvard, Cambridge, and UCL. This recognition at COP28 not only underscores the dedication of these students to tackling critical challenges in emergency response but also aligns with the broader theme of health and safety prevalent at the event.
